OTHER IMPORTANT REGULATORY CHANGES

The final rule on ERISA disability claims and appeals issued last December by the Department of Labor was expected to become effective on January 1, 2018.  However, that effective date has now been postponed to April 1, 2018.

The Department of Health and Human Services has withdrawn its proposed rule regarding the deadline for health plans to certify their compliance with HIPAA electronic transaction standards and operating rules as mandated by the Affordable Care Act.
